Which type of makeup is best for bridal?

You want to look beautiful in person, but your photos will last forever! Here are my top tips to look great for both.

12 Tips to do your own wedding day makeup!

Bridal makeup Step by Step with products : 12 tips for perfect wedding day makeup.

1. Don’t skimp on the makeup primer

When we say this is a base, it truly preps the canvas of your face to ensure a perfect, smooth foundation application.  This is also essential to making sure your makeup lasts all day and is waterproof!. To look fresh and glowy and to ensure your makeup lasts from aisle to champagne toast, I recommend Too Faced Hangover Primer

  •  Hangover is a revolutionary makeup primer infused with coconut water, probiotics and skin revivers that work together to boost skin’s radiance, promote elasticity and help hydrate while locking down makeup for fresher, longer and more flawless wear.
  • creamy, penetrating primer that acts like an energy drink for the skin by replenishing moisture levels. It can be worn alone for a dewy, healthy looking finish orunder bronzers, foundations and powders to create the perfect canvas.
  • Hydrates and brightens the skin while promoting skin’s elasticity and tone. Smoothes and soothes the skin.

2. Foundation is the wedding makeup basic you can’t live without!

This is truly where your wedding day glow comes from so make it flawless! Make it LAST! My go to pro suggestion: Make Up Forever Ultra HD Invisible Cover Foundation .

  • A revolutionary long-wearing HD fluid foundation
  • Developed specifically for the film & TV industry’s most advanced technology
  • Contains uniquely-coated pigments that provide medium to buildable coverage
  • Infused with hyaluronic spheres to moisturize skin
  • Conceals imperfections to even out skin texture
  • Creates a naturally flawless complexion
  • Perfect for all skin types

3. Don’t skip the concealer

Especially if you want to look your best in photos.

*My tip: apply a slightly lighter shade to the inner corners and just under the eye:  This will give a glowy, wide away look. I recommend Laura Mercier Flawless Fusion Ultra-Longwear Concealer. It won’t budge, and it won’t crease. I use it on all my brides.

  • This concealer is medium to full coverage
  • Weightless concealer that perfects, hydrates and blurs
  • Twelve hours of crease resistant wear

4. Ready, SET, go!

SETTING POWDER is VERY key to looking amazing in your photos, as you don’t want to have any shine! Did I mention don’t leave out this step?

*Also make sure you have a little touch up powder and brush in your wedding day makeup kit. Tips from the pros: touch up often to avoid shine in pictures!  Laura Mercier Translucent Loose Setting Powder Glow – Translucent, 1 Ounce

  • A touch of sheer coverage with a matte finish sets makeup flawlessly for 12 hours
  • This lightweight, finely-milled powder doesn’t add weight or texture to skin
  • This no-flashback formula is perfect for photos and creates a soft-focus effect to subtly blur the look of fine lines and imperfections

5. Make sure your wedding day eye makeup is iron clad and cry proof!

Don’t skip the eye shadow primer! For a crease proof, long lasting base for your eye shadow that won’t cry off, I recommend NARS Pro-Prime Smudge Proof Eyeshadow Base

A lightweight eye primer that creates a seamless canvas to keep cream and powder eyeshadows looking brilliant, fresh, and just-applied.

6. Wedding makeup isn’t complete without alluring eyes.

Choose natural nudes for your wedding. Nothing looks more glamorous than slightly iridescent eye shadow, but avoid the glitters as these can look too theatrical for a wedding. I suggest Urban Decay Naked3 Eyeshadow Palette, 12 Versatile Rosy Neutral Shades for Every Day – Ultra-Blendable, Rich Colors with Velvety Texture – Set Includes Mirror & Double-Ended Makeup Brush

  • These are CLASSIC wedding colors, and the pigment is lush and blendable. My favorite eyeshadow for brides
  • PIGMENT INFUSION SYSTEM – paraben-free, sulfate-free, and phthalate-free
  • velvety texture, rich color, and extreme blendability.

7. Don’t ignore the brows! Wedding day makeup is incomplete without this face framer!

Nowadays a gorgeous brow is the ultimate framer of the face. I LOVE Anastasia Beverly Hills, and a wonderful product is Anastasia Beverly Hills – Ombré Brow Kit.

  • Anastasia Beverly Hills Ombré Brow Kit is a limited-edition set featuring three must-have ABH brow products: a full-size Brow Powder Duo, Brush 7B and a travel-size Clear Brow Gel.
  • Use these perfectly paired brow essentials to create everything from an effortless ombré brow to a soft, structured brow.
  • Perfect in your wedding day makeup bag

8. The eyes have it on your wedding day.

Make sure your eye pencil is WATERPROOF! I LOVE Waterproof eye pencil Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-on Eyeliner Pencil, Zero – Zealous Black with Cream Finish – Award Winning, Waterproof Eyeliner – Long-Lastin, Intense Color Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-On Eyeliner Pencil

  • intense, long-wearing color that won’t budge.
  • Ultra-creamy formula glides on smoothly so you can easily draw a precise line, but stays soft so you can smudge for a smokier look.
  • will dry down into a long-lasting finish for all-day wear.
  • MOISTURIZING INGREDIENTS – This eyeliner is made with hydrating ingredients like vitamin E, jojoba oil & cottonseed oil. Vitamin E hydrates, moisturizes, and conditions the lash line, while jojoba oil & cottonseed oil condition and soften the skin.
  • award winning!

If you want a more dramatic look you can draw a winged liner with a waterproof gel.  Don’t go drugstore on gel eyeliner; it will smudge. My go to for my clients?

Bobbi Brown Long-wear Gel Eyeliner – 27 Caviar Ink By Bobbi Brown for Women – 0.1 Ounce Eyeliner, 0.1 Ounce

  • A gel-based water-proof eyeliner
  • It offers the precision of liquid liner
  • Its color stays true for long hours and gives a subtle and dramatic look

9. Lashes were meant for camera!

For photogenic eyes make sure to use plenty of BLACK mascara. We love false lashes for a bride, but if you aren’t comfortable applying those yourself, a few coats of black mascara will add the drama you want, and will ensure that you will pop in your pictures. My go to:  Urban Decay Perversion Volumizing Mascara, Waterproof – Intense Black – Creamy, Clump-Free, Flake-Free Formula – Volumizing Brush Separates & Defines

  • BIGGER, BADDER LASHES – Perversion Volumizing Mascara is a hyper-pigmented, volumizing, and  lengthening mascara that delivers feathery, fanned-out lashes. It’s the purest, deepest, most intense black color imaginable.
  • WATERPROOF FINISH – Killer days, extreme workouts, splash zones…come at us! Our cruelty-free and paraben-free waterproof formula doesn’t quit, and the creamy, full-bodied texture NEVER gets brittle or clumpy.
  • STIMULATE EYELASH GROWTH – Perversion Waterproof Mascara contains Hairdensyl, a blend of proteins and amino acids to stimulate lash growth. Honey extract nourishes, sea idrolized elastine stimulates hair follicles, and marine collagen protects.
10. Blushing brides need blush!

Choose one that will give you that flush of natural color.  I use Mac mineralize skinfinish in warm soul. This color looks gorgeous on almost everyone, and adds a natural “flush” to the face.

  • This blush won’t sit on the skin! It reflects light and looks natural and glowy.
  •  It adds buildable color to the face, dressing it with subtle layers that do not cause heavy coverage.
  • This blush is lightweight and maintains a natural-looking appearance.
  • It increases the radiance of the face, bringing just a touch of colour to highlight the cheekbones.

11. Highlight!

Some highlighter is lovely, and will look great in daytime or evening, and gorgeous in photos:  Just don’t go too glittery or shimmery.  I rely on:  Mac  also, if you are going to use contouring, just remember that less is more. True you will have your photos, but you want to look lovely in person as well, and contouring can end up looking a bit theatrical.  Too Faced Born This Way Turn Up the Light Complexion-Enhancing Highlighting Palette

  • a 3-finish baked highlighting palette.
  • Turn up the light and add dimension, lift, and luminosity with this complexion-enhancing highlighting palette created to bring out the inner radiance in every skin tone.
  • This baked trio diffuses and refracts light for a perfectly-lit complexion anywhere you go.

12. Kiss proof that pout!

Of all the top 12 wedding day makeup tips offered, this might be the most important one. Lipstick must stay put from the 1st kiss to the champagne toast. But beware formulas that look dry or cakey, which is quite  common with all-day liquid matte formulas.  Stila’s All day liquid lipstick is velvet and delicious, and comes in SOO many colors.  For a bride: stila all day liquid lipstick patina

  • A full coverage creamy lipstick matte, delivers intense moisture with bold, long-lasting color and stays in place for up to 6 hours of continuous wear.
  • Comfortable, moist, and bleed proof.
